Regression Testing takes lot hell of time out of overall time provided for testing of a product in any software project.
Though it takes longest duration for complete product coverage but somehow or the other lot of things remain untouched or unnoticed during this testing.

This could be due to lack of experience of tester, lack of knowledge of product, incomplete or unclear product/ business/ development documents or shortage of time and own management/ customer pressure.

Each of these factors marks a big impact on the presumed smooth road of project journey.

Lack of knowledge of the tester could cover up in short form of testing but will definitely leak out in the larger version of testing i.e. regression testing.

Many testers worldwide still feel regression testing as most boring and sometimes as non-productive too.

Even the development teams feel prolonged time consumed for regression testing by testers as an un-necessary exercise.

Due to its long duration many times the momentum and tempo of the testing team goes low.

Test automation could be a solution in such situations to shorten the duration of testing and to cover up other shortcomings.

Product knowledge improperly transferred to tester could lead to an erroneous regression testing.

Business knowledge transfer by respective business process owners at customer end to the business analysts could lead to another disaster of ambiguous documentation giving a totally wrong direction to product development.

Right and appropriate business knowledge transformation is very important.

Larger chunk of total project time allocated to development thereby left with a shorter time-span for testing is responsible for dissatisfied customers.
